Note on the Current Situation

No matter when, your child starting school is an important life event. Due to the current situation with Covid-19, the way how we normally support our parents and children through the transition to Reception will have to be slightly different. Please feel free to contact us through at any point in the forthcoming months should you have any questions and we will respond to you accordingly.

Admissions Paperwork

Once you have been offered a place and prior to your child starting at HPAPW, all admissions forms listed below must be completed. We have created electronic methods of completing these for ease. If you have any issues completing these, or would prefer a paper copy of these forms, please contact us on and we will be happy to help you.

If your child is going in to Reception in September 2020, and you want them to join HPAPW, please inform your local authority. You can contact us on and we will be happy to assist you with this.

If your child is going in to Years 1, 2, 3 or 4 in September, please note that this section of the website is specifically for new Reception parents. Please refer to our in-year admissions page here.

Forms that must be completed:

Student admissions form

Free school meals form

Intimate care form

Please ensure these forms are completed by Monday 8th June at 9am.

Getting Your Child Ready for School

We are aware that this year the transition may be trickier for some children and families. Please know that we will support you and your children through this transition and will ensure that we regularly communicate with you in the coming months. Please read our 'Getting Ready for School' guide for ways to help your child transition to school life.

Also please feel free to watch our Reception story time videos. These are a great way for your child to begin to know the staff they will be learning with in September. It will also mean that they join us already familiar with the Reception core texts, which would help them greatly.

Induction Meeting

We held two virtual induction meetings for new Reception parents. Thank you to all of the parents who attended this important meeting, we hope you found it useful and informative. If you missed the meeting, or would like to refresh yourselves on the points mentioned, you can view the presentation here.

Personal Meeting

N Parris

Our EYFS lead, Miss Parris, held personal meetings virtually. This conversation, was a chance to ask any questions that may not have been answered in the induction meeting and was also an opportunity for Miss Parris to meet your child. If you were unable to book a personal meeting, please contact us so we can support you with this.

Our uniform is purchased from a company called Brigade. Please see their flyer below. To ensure your child's uniform arrives before the start of school, please order it by Friday 7th August at the latest. Orders after this date will still be accepted but delivery will not be guaranteed before the start of term.

EYFS Curriculum

You may like to take this opportunity to look at our guide for parents on the Early Learning Goals that form the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum your child will be following.

This document has been designed to give you lots of helpful ideas and practical suggestions on how to support your child. Please remember that the statements are where your child should be at the end of their time in Reception, not upon entering!
