Wellbeing is always important to HPAPW but especially at present. We love Adhish's affirmations. Why don't you repeat them after him? https://t.co/Pxqj0KlJY1

We know that children at home are still completing their 'Read the Rainbow' bookmarks. When finished, please complete our new online form so we can send certificates to you. Last year, we were inundated with emails about them so we cannot wait to see who's been busy! https://t.co/NmUnQZJEou

Announcement

Re-Opening Information

On Monday 1st June, school will re-open for Reception and Year 1 children, in addition to children of key workers. All parents were sent a parent leaflet via MCAS regarding the re-opening to answer any questions you may have. We realise each family is unique and you may have specific questions regarding your personal circumstances so please feel free to contact us on info@harrisprimarypurleyway.org.uk if you question is not answered in the leaflet.

All parents were sent an online form to complete to inform the school of their intentions. This was so that the academy could prepare for the amount of children coming back e.g. catering and logistics. If you previously informed us that your child would not be attending school but now want them to attend, you must contact the school in advance to agree their start date. Please contact the office on info@harrisprimarypurleyway.org.uk so we can arrange their group and provide you with information accordingly. Please note that we will not be able to admit children to school if parents have not informed the school in advance. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we may not be able to offer your child a place if we are at full capacity.

Please click the relevant group below for further information:

Reception and Year 1

Children should attend school if they are able to but we understand that this may not be possible for all families due to medical conditions. No parents will be fined if their child cannot attend school. Work will continue to be set online for the children who do not attend school and it is expected to be completed. Phone calls from staff will continue for these families.

This year, the academy will award attendance certificates for the time prior to Covid-19. We know lots of children work very hard for their attendance certificates and we would not want the current situation to impact this hard work!

Once parents have confirmed their child's attendance at school, they will be sent a personalised letter telling them of their child's drop off and pick up slot, group name, location and group leader along with specific logistics for pick up and drop off. Should you now wish your child to attend school, you must contact the school in advance to agree their start date. Please note that we will not be able to admit children to school if parents have not informed the school in advance. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we may not be able to offer your child a place if we are at full capacity.

We understand that the return to school will cause some anxieties for children and have written a social story for parents to read to prepare their child for this transition. We have also prepared a video to explain it to the children.

Year 2 and 3

Government guidance stipulates that children in these year groups are not able to return to school at this time. Work will continue to be set online for the children who do not attend school and it is expected to be completed. Phone calls from staff will continue for these families. Should the government change their guidance regarding other primary aged children the academy will contact you again.

In the meantime, please remember to look at our home learning section for wellbeing activities, reward charts and social stories that your child might find helpful and remember we are here to help in any way we can. We would also recommend sharing this story with your children to help them make sense of the changes and worries they may be experiencing.

Children of Key Workers

The HPAPW, HPAK and HPAHP hub will close on Thursday 28th May to allow for a full deep clean on Friday 29th May prior to school reopening. If you are a key worker who has been sending their child to school during the closure, you will already have received details about your child's new group and arrangements. If you are a key worker who has not been sending their child to school during the closure, and you now need to do so, please contact the office on info@harrisprimarypurleyway.org.uk so we can arrange this accordingly. Please note you must contact the school in advance to agree their start date. Please note that we will not be able to admit children to school if parents have not informed the school in advance. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we may not be able to offer your child a place if we are at full capacity.

Please ensure that your child has the opportunity to watch our re-opening video to prepare them for how school is slightly different.
